On the Roadside
A visual documentation of a human habit that grows over time. Through eight consecutive scenes, the series records how a single discarded object gradually becomes part of a wider pattern of neglect, while nature changes around it and the human trace remains.

Scene 1 of 8
On the Roadside… Some stories begin in places we hardly notice—on the margins, where everyone passes by and no one stops.

Scene 2 of 8
On the Roadside… A story rarely ends with a single fragment. Time slips by quietly as new remnants join the scene. One fleeting mistake summons another, and our forgotten traces accumulate to keep the lonely beginnings company. This is how neglect slowly grows, in broad daylight, witnessed only by the footsteps of passersby who never stop.

Scene 3 of 8
On the Roadside… The cycle of nature intertwines with human chaos. Autumn sheds its weary leaves to embrace the earth, while we leave behind what neither wilts nor decays. Drifting bags, silent bottles, and the remnants of a fleeting day pile up among the yellowing foliage—an absurd portrait where nature’s temporary slumber merges with our stubborn traces. The scene grows crowded, yet footsteps continue to pass, never looking back.

Scene 4 of 8
On the Roadside… Winter arrives with its grey skies and restless winds. The rain washes the cold face of the asphalt, yet fails to erase our abandoned sins. Storms toy with what we have piled up, scattering the waste to invade the path of passersby, as if nature is rebelling to quietly throw our burden back at us. Beneath the heavy downpour, the scene grows increasingly desolate, and footsteps quicken to escape the cold, leaving the chaos to face its fate alone.

Scene 5 of 8
On the Roadside… As the heavy rain pours down, its pure drops gather into muddy torrents that carve the edges. Here, chaos loses its stillness; the rushing waters attempt to cleanse our heavy footprints, sweeping bottles and bags on a forced journey down the slopes. Our forgotten flaws float upon the murky surface, seeking a hollow to hide the shame of our neglect, while the road stands as a cold witness to a painful paradox: a sky overflowing with grace to wash the earth, and hands that repay the gift with defacement.

Scene 6 of 8
On the Roadside… Winter lingers and the torrents return, flooding the earth beyond its capacity to endure. Here, the mud congeals around our missteps, and the waste surrenders to the freezing, stagnant pools left by the rain. The waters can no longer wash it away; instead, they have become a cold trap holding what we abandoned. Days drag heavily, and storms repeat, while our plastic remnants stubbornly persist like a pale, fading tattoo that refuses to leave the face of an exhausted nature.

Scene 7 of 8
On the Roadside… Nature imposes its harsh cleansing, and the torrents take their course to swallow the chaos. The crowd of waste gradually recedes; the rushing waters sweep our traces towards the unknown in a deceptive recovery. Our flaws here do not perish; they merely drift to disfigure another unseen place. As the muddy wave subsides, a stubborn few cling to the earth, resisting the current. They stand as final witnesses to a recent past, quietly bracing for the tale’s final chapter.

Scene 8 of 8
On the Roadside… The tale coils back upon itself like a vicious circle that knows no salvation. After the roar of the storms has quieted and the caravans of chaos have washed away, the hero of the first scene remains alone, defying the cruelty of time. Yet its survival is not the end of the story; it is a silent proclamation of a new cycle of our recurring mistakes. Forgetfulness is the blind engine driving this miserable loop; tomorrow, another passerby will cross, dropping a new sin to keep the old trace company. We spin in an endless ring, where the rain departs and the plastic remains, leaving us haunted by the question: when will the chain of this cycle break? And when will we realise that what we leave behind does not pass away—it simply waits for us? On the Roadside… I was, and I still am.
